Time:1140910 (Wed.) 14:20~16:20 Speaker:Prof.丘政倫/ Chiu, Jeng-Lun 國家太空中心/Taiwan Space Agency Title:Balloons over Antarctica, Dreams of Space: A Journey through Science and Engineering Abstract: Space exploration has rapidly advanced in recent years, with initiatives such as SpaceX’s Starlink and commercial human spaceflight capturing global attention. In this context, I participated in a Taiwan-U.S. collaborative project to test a next-generation MeV gamma-ray telescope using NASA’s high-altitude balloons. Field campaigns in the United States, Australia, Antarctica, and New Zealand provided me with first-hand experience in addressing scientific and technical challenges at the frontier of high-energy astrophysics. Later, I joined the Taiwan Space Agency, where I transitioned into satellite component development, bridging experimental astrophysics with practical aerospace engineering. In this talk, I will share these experiences and highlight their significance for both scientific discovery and future space applications. Place:S101, Gongguan Campus, NTNU |
