Title:Spin relaxation dynamics of an ensemble of nitrogen vacancy centers in a single-crystalline nano-diamond

Abstract:Novel quantum-technology applications often demand controllable single- to many-body coherence among the constituent particles in the system. The electronic ground state of a negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy center (NV center or NVC) in diamond is a spin-triplet, which possesses an extraordinary long coherence time even in room temperatures. Given this advantage and simple electronic transitions for convenient optical readout, an NV center is recognized as an artificial atom in the solid-state form factor for applications ranging from sensing to encoding qubit. In this talk, I will present our studies on spin relaxation dynamics of an ensemble of NV centers in a single-crystalline nano-diamond. I will also present control of spin relaxation and discuss possible sensing applications using this nano-particle.
