In this talk, I will introduce the fundamental working principles of trapped ion quantum computing, including ion trapping, qubit manipulation, and entangling operations. I will then discuss key challenges, proposed solutions, and global efforts toward scalable architectures. Finally, I will share the IonLab’s recent progress at Hon Hai Research Institute, Foxconn, highlighting our approach to realizing a working trapped ion quantum computer.
