As the electronic structures function as the playbook guiding a material’s optoelectronic responses, they are always the highly desired knowledge whenever a novel property is discovered. In this talk, I will begin with an intuitive picture of band structure to illustrate the relevance of electronic structures to selected subjects such as the topological phase of a material and the quantum Hall effect. The talk will then move to a new instrument established at NSRRC TPS 27A2; a photoelectron-based momentum microscope (MM). With the ability to catch images in momentum space, MM provides a way to visualize the electronic structures of low-dimension systems. I will give several examples to describe the exciting features of MM and the opportunities it presents. Place:S102, Gongguan Campus, NTNU |
