We can use galaxies as test particles to constrain our cosmological models. However, galaxies are also subject to complex astrophysics associated with baryons. So detailed understanding of galaxies will impact our cosmological studies. Here I will introduce our works on a special class of galaxies, who are rich in dust and traditionally invisible from optical surveys made in the optical wavelengths. I will use examples to demonstrate that they are important building blocks of the universe, including analyses on their contributions to the cosmic infrared background radiation, and their dark matter masses.
