This is not a far off thing. About 4.5 billion years from now, our galaxy, the Milky Way, will collide with our large neighbor Andromeda (M31). In this talk, I will introduce the types of interacting galaxies and galaxy mergers and how to identify interacting galaxies\/mergers in the Universe \u2014 in particular in large galaxy survey. Galaxy interactions have strong implication on galaxy evolution. In the talk, I will also discuss the impact of galaxy interaction on altering cold gas properties (nursery of stars), triggering star formation and AGN, and driving morphological transformation of galaxies.
