1092-專題演講-1100407-鄭嘉良(東華物理)
Time:1100407 (Wed.) 14:20~16:20 Speaker:Prof. 鄭嘉良(CHENG, Chia-Liang) 國立東華大學物理學系/Department of Physics, National Dong Hwa University Title:Spectroscopy for nanomaterials and bio-medical applications Abstract:Spectroscopy is an old technique for study molecular structure. The non-contact, non-invasive nature with advances in instrumental design; spectroscopy and microscopy have become powerful tools for study nanomaterials and biological systems. This talk will be focused on Infrared and Raman spectroscopy, and the applications of nanodiamond for bio medical studies, especially bio imaging and (cancer) drug delivery. Nanometer-size diamond particles, first synthesized in 1963, exhibit remarkable potential in diverse areas of research owing to their unique physical, optical and surface chemical properties. Properties such as intense luminescence without photo-bleaching, high surface area and adaptive chemical reactivity, and non-cytotoxicity make nanodiamond (ND) attractive in various biomedical applications such as drug delivery, imaging or bio-labeling etc. However, for optimal and specific drug or biomolecule loading, interactions and stability on diamond surface are still challenging tasks due to surface inhomogeneity and contaminations. The complex nature of nanodiamond surfaces are possible to further conjugate clinical drug for specific targeted delivery. The composed ND-X complexes are demonstrated in a 3D cellular model (multicellular tumor spheroid, MCTS), consisted of large collection of cells in a three dimensional format extend about 0.7 mm in diameter ; resemble the configuration of a tumor, ideal for evaluating the efficacy of drug delivery using a ND-drug complex.
